ASTM F1515 Light Stability by Color Change Test

This test is designed for resilient flooring products, but may be used by other flooring products if desired.  The test utilizes a xenon arc test chamber to evaluate a product’s resistance to color change cuased by exposure to sunlight, heat, and moisture.  Color measurements are taken on each specimen before and after testing.  Samples are exposed to specific test conditions inside the Xenon Arc chamber for a total of 400 hours, and are removed at each 100-hour interval to take color measurements.  While the test calls for 400 hours of exposure, most resilient flooring specifications require the product to show a color change (ΔE) of ≤ 8 after only 300 hours of exposure.
