ASTM F1515 Light Stability by Color Change Test
ASTM F1515 Light Stability by Color Change Test
Floor Detective® Laboratory Testing Reference
Summary
ASTM F1515 is a laboratory test used to evaluate the resistance of resilient flooring materials to color change resulting from exposure to simulated sunlight, heat, and moisture. The procedure measures color stability by comparing pre-exposure and post-exposure color readings and reporting the difference as a Delta E (ΔE) value. Lower Delta E values generally indicate less measurable color change under the laboratory exposure conditions, while higher values generally indicate greater color change. ASTM F1515 is commonly used for LVT, SPC, WPC, and sheet vinyl products to compare color stability performance under controlled laboratory conditions. The procedure evaluates color change characteristics only and does not independently evaluate wear resistance, indentation resistance, installation quality, maintenance practices, structural performance, warranty coverage, or field service life. See also Yellowing and Discoloration, LVT and SPC Floor Problems, and Flooring Laboratory Testing and Analysis for broader context.
