Summary

Static electricity generation in laminate flooring is an environmental condition in which low interior relative humidity permits electrostatic charge buildup on the floor surface during normal foot traffic. Laminate surfaces are non-conductive and, under dry atmospheric conditions, may accumulate and discharge static electricity when contacted by occupants. The condition is most common during heating seasons or in arid climates where indoor humidity levels are reduced. Static discharge does not reflect structural failure of the laminate plank or locking system.
