Decorative Pattern Repeat / Visual Repetition (Laminate)
Pattern Repeat / Visual Repetition (Laminate Flooring)
Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Pattern repeat, also called visual repetition, is an appearance-related laminate flooring condition in which identical plank visuals recur within a visible area of the installation. Laminate flooring uses printed decorative films containing a finite number of plank images within each design cycle. As those visuals repeat throughout the floor, identical knots, grain lines, cracks, saw marks, or distinctive character features may become recognizable to the occupant, particularly in large open areas or along extended sightlines. Visibility is influenced by room size, lighting direction, plank blending practices, installation sequence, décor contrast, and viewing angle. Pattern repetition is inherent to printed decorative flooring systems and does not independently establish laminate manufacturing nonconformance. Proper interpretation requires correlation of repeat frequency, room geometry, layout pattern, and product-design characteristics before conclusions are reached.
