Color Lot Variation (Laminate)
Color Lot Variation (Laminate Flooring)
Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Color lot variation in laminate flooring refers to visible differences in shade, tone, contrast, or pattern intensity between cartons or production runs installed within the same project. Laminate decorative layers are produced through batch-based printing and pressing processes that may result in slight tonal variation between manufacturing lots. When cartons from different lots are mixed within a single installation, perceptible color transitions may occur across the floor. Visual differences may become more noticeable under directional lighting, within large open areas, or where plank blending practices were inconsistent during installation. The presence of shade variation alone does not independently establish manufacturing defect; evaluation requires correlation of lot numbers, distribution pattern, installation sequence, and lighting conditions before conclusions are reached. See also Decorative Pattern Repeat / Visual Repetition, Discolorations, and Laminate Problems for broader context.
