Summary

Scratching, scuffing, and abrasion in laminate flooring are surface changes caused by contact, friction, or concentrated force acting on the finished floor. Laminate products include a factory-applied melamine wear layer designed to resist normal traffic-related wear, but no surface is immune from damage when applied force exceeds surface resistance. Marks may range from light sheen changes to deeper gouges that penetrate the wear layer. These conditions reflect interaction between the floor surface and external objects or debris rather than inherent structural failure of the laminate system.
