Appearance Retention Scales
he Appearance Retention Scales are photographic reference scales created from trafficked carpets, of varying styles, in order to provide a visual reference for grading levels of the effects of traffic. Scales are from 5 to 1 including half steps equaling 9 total possible grades per set. Multiple sets of scales are available covering several different styles/textures of carpeting. Scales can be purchased directly from the Carpet and Rug Institute at www.carpet-rug.org.
