Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Travertine is a naturally voided limestone formed when mineral deposits trap gases during stone formation. These voids are a defining characteristic of the material and may be visible, partially filled, or concealed beneath the finished surface depending on fabrication and finishing methods. Travertine may be supplied with open voids or with factory-applied fillers intended to create a smoother and more uniform appearance. During service, concealed voids may occasionally become exposed as thin stone shells fracture or as filler materials wear, erode, or dislodge over time. Evaluation focuses on distinguishing expected natural stone behavior and maintenance-related conditions from abnormal installation distress or structural stone failure.
