Summary
Carpet side match is an appearance condition in which adjoining carpet breadths appear different in color or shade at a seam after installation. When the difference results from true dye or texture variation across the width of the roll, it is generally classified as a manufacturing-related condition. In other cases, the visual contrast may result from pile direction, texture reflectance, seam profile, or lighting interaction even though the dye color itself has not changed. The condition may be evaluated alongside related conditions such as shading and seam peaking, which may appear similar but differ in underlying mechanism.
