Browning / Soil Wicking (Carpet)
Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Browning and soil wicking are post-wetting discoloration conditions that develop as carpet dries following cleaning or water exposure. Discoloration appears primarily at the tips of the face yarns due to moisture-driven migration and concentration of materials within the carpet system. The condition does not represent fiber wear, dye instability, or inherent manufacturing failure and is often evaluated alongside related conditions. See also Soiling, Appearance Retention, and Carpet Problems for broader context.
