Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide

Summary

Buckling in laminate flooring is an upward lifting condition caused by expansion pressure within a restrained floating floor system. Laminate floors are designed to move within required perimeter expansion space as temperature and moisture levels change. When planks expand and that movement is restricted at walls, cabinetry, or other fixed points, internal compressive stress (sideways pressure) builds. If the pressure exceeds the available expansion clearance, the floor relieves upward, resulting in humps, peaked joints, or localized lifting. The condition reflects dimensional stress within
