Summary

Cracking in luxury vinyl tile or plank flooring may occur when the material is installed over existing hard surface substrates that do not provide continuous support beneath the flooring. Existing ceramic tile, stone, concrete, or previously installed flooring may contain grout joints, height variation, or localized irregularities that create areas of reduced support. When resilient planks bridge these unsupported areas, repeated loading or localized deflection may concentrate stress within the plank structure.
