Summary
ASTM F970 is a laboratory test method used to evaluate the recovery properties of uninstalled resilient flooring after concentrated static loading. The procedure applies a specified load through a standardized indentor plate for a prescribed period, then measures the residual indentation remaining after the specimen has recovered. ASTM F970 is commonly referenced for luxury vinyl plank, luxury vinyl tile, sheet vinyl, rubber flooring, linoleum, and other resilient flooring products where furniture, appliances, shelving, office equipment, or other stationary loads may be involved. Results provide comparative laboratory information regarding indentation recovery and static-load resistance but do not independently establish manufacturing defect, installation error, warranty responsibility, or installed field performance.
