EN 16094 – Microscratch Resistance Test (Flooring)
Floor Detective® Laboratory Testing Reference
Summary
EN 16094 Microscratch Resistance Test is a laboratory procedure used to evaluate the resistance of finished flooring surfaces to fine surface scratching caused by controlled abrasive contact. The method is commonly used to evaluate laminate flooring, resilient flooring, luxury vinyl flooring (LVT/LVP), and engineered wood flooring under standardized laboratory conditions. Results provide comparative information regarding surface scratch resistance, gloss retention, and finish durability for quality-control programs, product development, manufacturing verification, and flooring claims investigations. Laboratory findings should be interpreted together with flooring construction, finish type, field observations, service conditions, and other laboratory test results.
