Summary

Surface whitening from topical moisture entrapment is an appearance-related laminate flooring condition characterized by localized cloudy, hazy, or milky discoloration resulting from prolonged surface moisture exposure beneath non-breathable objects such as potted plants, saucers, trays, or rubber-backed materials. The condition develops when moisture becomes trapped at the laminate surface and evaporation is restricted, altering the optical properties of the wear layer or decorative overlay. This condition is typically environmental and site-related in origin and does not, by itself, indicate a manufacturing defect or structural core failure.
