Summary
Indent fracturing is a tile distress condition in which localized compressive forces cause internal fracture within the tile body due to concentrated loading combined with inadequate support beneath the tile. The fracture typically originates below the visible surface of the tile where stress is concentrated at unsupported areas or voids within the bonding layer. Visible cracking may appear later as the internal fracture propagates upward through the tile body during continued service loading.
