Texture Variation (Carpet)

Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide

Summary

Texture variation is an appearance condition in which sections of carpet display differences in surface texture, pile definition, or light reflectivity. The condition develops when pile orientation, tuft formation, or surface geometry varies slightly across the carpet surface, altering how light reflects between adjacent areas. Texture variation commonly remains visually consistent and does not reverse with normal viewing direction changes. The condition may create the appearance of color difference even when the variation is optical rather than dye-related. Texture variation primarily affects appearance uniformity and does not independently indicate fiber damage, backing failure, or reduced durability. See also Side Match, Gauge Lines / Rows, and Carpet Problems for broader context.
