Surface Defects (Tile)
Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Surface defects in ceramic or porcelain tile involve physical irregularities affecting the visible face or near-surface body of the tile. These conditions may originate during manufacturing or develop after installation due to impact, abrasion, chemical exposure, handling, or service-related use conditions. Surface defects may appear as pits, pinholes, blisters, glaze disturbances, inclusions, laminations, scratches, or localized surface disruptions. Evaluation focuses on identifying the type, severity, distribution, and likely origin of the condition while distinguishing inherent manufacturing characteristics from installation-related or post-installation damage.
