Summary

Skew is a carpet appearance condition in which the pattern, tuft rows, or backing are not square to the length of the carpet. A skew can occur when one edge of the carpet leads the center and the opposite edge during the manufacturing process. As the tenter moves the carpet through dyeing, finishing, and secondary backing application, side-to-side speed or tension variation may result in a twisted or diagonal appearance across the width.
