Summary

Skew is an appearance-related dimensional condition in which pattern elements, tuft rows, or backing alignment are not square to the length of the carpet. The condition develops when unequal side-to-side tension or speed variation occurs during dyeing, finishing, or secondary backing application. As the carpet moves through the tenter frame, differential edge movement may produce a consistent diagonal deviation across the width.
