Carpet Tile Curling / Peaking (Modular Carpet)
Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Carpet tile curling and peaking are stability and appearance conditions in which modular carpet tiles exhibit edge lift, corner distortion, or compressive displacement after installation. Curling involves upward edge movement, while peaking involves compression of adjacent tile edges resulting in raised seams or distorted tile alignment. The condition may be influenced by dimensional response to moisture or temperature, adhesive interaction, backing characteristics, installation compression, or environmental exposure. Curling and peaking may occur independently or together and do not independently establish a manufacturing defect without supporting evidence and correlation of field conditions. See also Buckling / Wrinkling, Seam Peaking, and Carpet Problems Guide for broader context.
