Texture Variation (Carpet)

Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide

Summary

Texture variation is an appearance condition where sections of carpet display differences in surface texture, pile definition, or light reflectivity. The variation occurs when pile orientation or tuft formation differs slightly across the carpet surface, changing how light reflects. It may resemble shading or appearance retention, but remains consistent and does not change with viewing direction. Texture variation affects appearance only and does not indicate fiber damage, backing failure, or loss of durability.

What You Need to Know

• Texture variation appears as lighter, darker, smoother, or more corded areas.
• The condition often follows the length direction of the carpet.
