Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Dye burst, also referred to as dye spots, is a localized appearance variation that occurs when concentrated dyestuff becomes deposited or released in a confined area during the carpet dyeing or finishing process. The condition develops before final drying and fixation, resulting in small darker spots or blotches where concentrated color becomes embedded within the pile. Dye bursts are generally stable in appearance and do not reflect post-installation dye movement, cleaning exposure, environmental influence, or in-service use. The condition differs from moisture-related color migration and transferable surface dye because the color is fixed within the yarn structure rather than moving between yarns or transferring by contact. See also Dye Bleeding / Color Migration, Color Crocking / Dye Transfer, and Carpet Problems for broader context.
