Summary
AATCC 138 Colorfastness to Shampooing evaluates the resistance of carpet and textile dyes to color change, fading, bleeding, or staining when exposed to shampoo-based cleaning solutions under controlled laboratory conditions. The test provides comparative information regarding dye stability during shampoo exposure, but it has limited relevance to many modern carpet-cleaning systems such as hot water extraction, encapsulation, and low-moisture cleaning. Results may assist with evaluation of cleaning-related color concerns, but they do not independently establish manufacturing defect, cleaning error, warranty responsibility, or actual field performance.
