Summary
AATCC 16E Colorfastness to Light testing evaluates the resistance of carpet and textile dyes to fading, color loss, or color shift caused by exposure to simulated daylight under controlled laboratory conditions. The test is commonly used to assess the long-term color stability of carpets, rugs, upholstery fabrics, and other dyed textile products exposed to sunlight or strong interior lighting. Results provide comparative information regarding a material’s resistance to light-induced fading and may assist in evaluating complaints involving discoloration, fading, or uneven color change. Laboratory results do not independently establish manufacturing defect, warranty responsibility, or actual field performance.
