Summary

Carpet seam peaking is an appearance condition seen as a raised or slightly peaked seam in stretch-in carpet installations. It develops when the carpet is stretched after the seam tape has bonded the sections together, creating slight resistance at the seam compared to adjacent areas. This difference in movement may cause the seam to rise above the surrounding carpet surface. The condition may be evaluated alongside related seam conditions such as seam overlap and seam overheating, which may present with similar visual characteristics but differ in underlying mechanism.
