Summary

Packaging or storage deformation in resilient plank flooring is a pre-installation distortion condition in which planks develop altered shape, thickness variation, bowing, compression marks, or localized surface irregularities while stored within cartons, pallets, transport vehicles, or warehouse environments. Multi-layer resilient planks remain susceptible to compression-related deformation because the materials may temporarily or permanently conform to sustained loading, uneven stacking pressure, pallet shift, heat exposure, or concentrated carton stress during storage and transport. When the flooring is later installed, affected planks may exhibit isolated humps, depressions, edge distortion, thickness irregularity, or localized surface deformation that remains visible under service conditions. Because the condition originates before installation, deformation commonly affects isolated planks or repeating groups of planks rather than producing broad continuous patterns across the entire installation. Visibility frequently increases under directional, reflective, or low-angle lighting conditions. Proper evaluation requires distinguishing packaging-related deformation from telegraphing, substrate irregularity, environmental movement, or installation-related stress conditions.
