raffic Lane Gray (Carpet)

Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide

Summary

Traffic lane gray is an appearance condition in which primary traffic areas develop a dull, gray, or muted appearance compared to adjacent low-traffic areas. The condition results from microscopic abrasion of fiber surfaces caused by repeated foot traffic in combination with fine particulate soil. It may resemble appearance retention or shading, but remains confined to traffic patterns and does not reverse with viewing direction. Abrasion alters the smooth fiber surface, increasing light scattering and reducing color clarity. The condition develops gradually and typically aligns with consistent traffic pathways. Traffic lane gray affects appearance only and does not indicate backing failure, fiber loss, or manufacturing defect.

What You Need to Know

• Traffic lane gray appears as dull or gray areas in primary traffic paths.
• The condition results from microscopic fiber abrasion rather than removable soil. >>>>
