Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide

Summary

Roll crush is an appearance condition that occurs when carpet pile remains under sustained compression while stored or transported in roll form. Continuous circumferential pressure causes yarns to lean or flatten, altering surface reflectance patterns without changing dye or fiber composition. Observable effects may include visible banding and conditions that may be visually confused with crushing or shading. The condition develops after manufacturing during storage and handling and affects appearance only without indicating fiber damage, backing failure, or structural defect.
