Summary
Dry cupping in engineered hardwood flooring is a concave surface profile condition in which plank edges appear higher than the center due to moisture imbalance through the thickness of the board. The condition develops when the exposed wear layer loses moisture more rapidly than the underlying core, creating a differential shrinkage response between bonded layers.
