Summary

Traffic lane gray is an appearance-related condition in which primary traffic areas develop a dull, gray, or muted appearance compared to adjacent low-traffic areas. The condition results from microscopic abrasion of yarn filament surfaces caused by repeated foot traffic in combination with fine particulate soil. Abrasion alters the smooth fiber surface that normally reflects light uniformly, causing increased light scattering and reduced color clarity.
