Tip Bloom (Carpet)
Floor Detective® Claims and Conditions Guide
Summary
Tip bloom is an appearance condition in which the tips of cut-pile carpet yarns open, splay, or appear fuzzy with use. The condition develops as individual filaments at exposed yarn tips separate under foot traffic, grooming, and vacuuming forces. The effect is gradual and typically more noticeable in higher-use areas. Tip bloom affects surface texture and appearance only and does not indicate fiber loss, backing failure, or reduced durability. See also Appearance Retention, Crushing and Matting, and Carpet Problems for broader context.
