Summary
Shearing defects are manufacturing-origin appearance conditions resulting from inconsistent pile-height cutting during the controlled shearing process. Shearing establishes surface uniformity after tufting and backing by trimming protruding fibers to a defined height. When shear depth varies across the carpet width or along the roll length, yarn tip height becomes inconsistent, producing visible texture variation, banding, or light-reflection differences.
