Summary
Twist loss is an appearance-retention condition in which carpet yarns lose their ability to maintain intended twist configuration under normal use. Yarn twist is a primary structural characteristic that binds fibers together within the pile, and when twist stability is limited, yarns may relax, open, bloom, or lose surface definition over time. Observable effects may include a fuzzy, untidy, or less defined surface appearance, particularly in traffic areas subjected to repeated compression and shear forces.
