Summary

Broken locking profiles, also referred to as profile fracture, is a structural edge damage condition in modular resilient plank flooring where the machined tongue, groove, locking ledge, or corner geometry chips, cracks, crumbles, or snaps. Click-lock systems rely on intact profiled edges to transfer load and maintain engagement; fracture at the locking geometry reduces joint stability and may present as gapping, vertical movement, edge lift, clicking, or repeat separation.
