Summary
Stop marks are manufacturing-related appearance conditions created during the tufting process when the tufting machine momentarily stops and restarts. If the needle bar is raised during the stoppage, slight advancement of the primary backing may occur before tufting resumes. This interruption disrupts normal tuft placement and creates a visible band across the carpet width. Stop marks are present prior to installation and are permanent in nature. The condition affects
