Summary

Locking edge crushing, commonly associated with over-tapping during installation, is a laminate flooring condition in which mechanical joint profiles are damaged by excessive force applied while engaging planks. Laminate locking systems are precision-milled components designed to interlock under controlled installation pressure. When excessive striking force is used, particularly at short ends or long-edge engagement points, the fragile upper lip or internal locking geometry may fracture, compress, or deform.
