Throughout my career in the flooring industry, I have provided installation, inspection, technical evaluation, consulting, and expert services for flooring manufacturers, retailers, contractors, attorneys, property owners, and other industry professionals. My experience encompasses a broad range of flooring and surfacing systems, including hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, luxury vinyl, rigid core/SPC, carpet, ceramic and porcelain tile, natural stone, and related installation systems.

My manufacturer-related experience includes field inspections, warranty and claim investigations, product evaluations, installation assessments, moisture investigations, substrate evaluations, product identification, failure analysis, and determining whether reported flooring conditions are attributable to the product, installation, substrate, moisture, environmental conditions, or other factors.

Commercial, High-Rise & Hospitality Experience

My field experience extends beyond residential flooring to major commercial, hospitality, entertainment, and athletic facilities throughout Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada. I have conducted flooring inspections and evaluations in major hotels, resorts, high-rise condominium buildings, commercial properties, and specialty facilities.

Projects have included inspection and evaluation of flooring systems installed over concrete and elevated wood-framed substrates, including complex installations requiring evaluation of substrate conditions, moisture, installation practices, product performance, and workmanship.

My project experience includes the Las Vegas production set of the television program Hell's Kitchen and the Las Vegas Aces practice facility, where I inspected tile installations throughout the facility, including tile installed on both floors and walls.

Tile & Natural Stone Expertise

In addition to resilient flooring, wood, and carpet systems, I specialize in the inspection and evaluation of ceramic and porcelain tile and natural stone installations, including both interior and exterior applications.

My stone experience includes evaluating natural stone flooring, wall applications, exterior stone installations, patios, walkways, and other architectural stone applications. Inspections may include evaluation of substrate conditions, lippage, cracking, chipping, staining, installation methods, grout and joint conditions, moisture, movement, drainage, and other factors affecting the performance and appearance of stone and tile installations.

This experience includes evaluating both the material itself and the complete installed system, allowing reported defects to be distinguished from inherent characteristics of the material, installation-related deficiencies, environmental conditions, substrate movement, moisture, or normal performance characteristics.

Expert Witness & Litigation Experience

In addition to field inspection and technical consulting, I have been retained as a flooring expert witness and consultant in litigation and dispute-resolution matters. My work has included inspections of disputed flooring conditions, review of installation and product documentation, analysis of competing claims, evaluation of manufacturer requirements and accepted industry practices, determination of probable causation, and preparation of written expert opinions and reports.

I have been retained by law firms and national expert-witness organizations, including Sutton Pierce, a national expert-witness company, to provide independent technical expertise in flooring-related matters.

My litigation experience includes providing expert testimony in a Nevada hardwood flooring matter, as well as participating in additional matters that were resolved prior to trial. My role in these matters has required independent opinions based on field observations, testing, industry standards, manufacturer requirements, installation practices, and practical experience within the flooring industry.

My background combines hands-on flooring experience with independent inspection and forensic evaluation. This provides a practical perspective when determining whether a reported condition is most consistent with a manufacturing issue, installation deficiency, substrate condition, moisture condition, environmental exposure, material characteristic, or other contributing factor.
