Summary
Concrete surface profile (CSP) and surface preparation refer to the mechanical condition of a slab surface that supports flooring adhesion and bond performance. Adhesives and coatings rely on surface texture, cleanliness, and structural integrity to achieve mechanical interlock with the concrete substrate. Surface preparation methods such as shot blasting and grinding are used to remove contaminants and create a compatible profile. Inadequate surface preparation may prevent adhesive wetting, limit bond strength, or result in slab-interface bond failure. CSP compatibility reflects substrate readiness and installation conditions rather than a defect in the flooring material.
